Our selection of unique frames

We stock over 1000 frames in every colour, shape, and size you could imagine. Only a fraction of frames are displayed in the shop. Instead of leaving clients to browse hundreds of frames alone, our team bring the frames to you. This allows us to not only show you suitable frames, but it gives a more personal touch to finding your latest look.

Eyewear Styling

Our eyewear styling consultation is a chance to spend time with our team in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. You should never feel obliged to buy at this consultation. Finding the perfect eyewear is best done with thought and consideration as after all, they are the first thing that people see when they look at you.

World-Class Service

Our team of four staff have a combined 75 years of optical experience. Everyone in our team has a minimum of a foundation degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing and is passionate about eyewear and customer service. We are committed to giving our clients the best advice and experience we possibly can.

Eye Exams

The average eye examination in the UK lasts for 20 minutes, which is just long enough to do all the necessary checks for the health of your eyes.

At The Spectacle Shop, we allow up to one hour for an eye examination which gives us the time to get to know you and your individual needs. The relationship we start to build here is just the beginning of a journey to help you find your perfect eyewear.

Meet the team at The Spectacle Shop

Phil

Qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 1996, opening The Spectacle Shop in the same year. Phil is dedicated to giving fantastic customer service and many of his customers have been visiting for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoys carp fishing and bike-packing.

Sarah

Sarah qualified as an optometrist in 1991 and retired from the register in 2024. She now works as a frame stylist, helping people find their amazing eyewear. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, walking and gardening.

Mark

Qualified in 1987 as a dispensing optician. Having worked in several optical practices in his career, Mark has seen the good and bad in the optical industry . He brings the best customer service gained from his experience to The Spectacle shop.

Jenny

Qualified as an optometrist in 2014. Jenny is a self-declared crazy Cat-Lady. She loves spending time with her small children, going for long walks and reading.

Phil

Phil qualified as an optometrist in 1991. He is also a stamp and coin valuer for auction companies. In his spare time, he enjoys walking, gardening and shouting at the TV when England are playing rugby and shouting at the radio when England are playing cricket.

Joanne

With over 20 years of experience in the optical industry, I bring a strong foundation of knowledge and professionalism.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking and going out on the motorbike with my partner.

Eye Exams

We allow 45 minutes for an eye examination, giving us the time to get to know you and your individual needs.
Eyewear Styling Consultation

We don’t leave you to just pick off a shelf, we help you to choose and style eyewear to you, advising every step of the way.
